LAKELAND CONFERENCE WOMEN OF THE ELCA
The FALL GATHERING will be held on Thursday, September 27, 2018, at Green Lake Bible Camp. Registration begins at 5:00 pm and the Gathering will begin at 6:30 pm.
The speaker is Pastor Daniel Bowman, from Hawk Creek Lutheran Church, Franklin, MN. In 2016, tragedy struck the congregation of Hawk Creek resulting in a total loss of their church. They have gone through the stages of loss and grief together and have worked to rebuild. Pastor Bowman will share the story of Hawk Creek in his message “From Sorrow to Joy: Discovering God’s Presence in Difficult Days”.
Cost is $10.00, which includes the dinner served at 5:30 pm.

Thanksgiving Eve pie and coffee will be handled by volunteers.
Midsummer Dinner will have its own committee just like the Fall Festival, Pork Chop Dinner, and Smelt Fry.

ALTAR
1) Check calendar for parament colors.
2) Polish collection plates only as needed (supplies in cupboard).
3) Place flowers on altar – Use white gloves while handling brass containers. Following the service put flowers in refrigerator. If no fresh flowers are available contact Flower Coordinator who will purchase bouquets for the altar with memorial funds designated for altar flowers. (If flowers are not very good, discard them. If there are baskets of flowers from a funeral, they may be rearranged and put in vases.)
4) Light the candelabras when communion is served. (Candelabras are not lit during the season of Lent.)
5) DO NOT leave empty flower vases on altar.
6) Artificial flowers are NOT to be used on Altar.
COMMUNION SERVICES
1) Communion is the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Sunday of the month. 1st Sunday of each month will be at the table, 2nd Sunday of each month will be intinction, and the 5th Sunday will be the altar guilds choice.
2) Prepare the day before. *Wine and grape juice are in the refrigerator and the wafers are in the freezer compartment. Put wine and grape juice in communion cups, wine in the silver cup, wafers on tray, and cover with linen cloths. DO NOT fill outer ring of communion tray.
3) During the communion service be ready to fill additional cups if needed. Following the service carefully clean and return communion supplies to the cupboard. Disposable plastic cups are now being used.
CLEANING
1) Assist with yearly cleaning altar area.
2) Wash acolyte robes & linens as needed.
CHECK ROBES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH.
BAPTISM
1) Place warm water in pitcher. Empty and clean after service.
2) Church secretary will supply baptism candle and gifts.

1) Check supplies: wafers, wine, grape juice, and oil for candles etc. Notify office secretary when supplies are low.

- Lakeland Conference -
LAKELAND CONFERENCE WOMEN OF THE ELCA
will gather at Calvary Lutheran in Willmar for their
SPRING GATHERING on Sat, April 21, 2018.
Registration and refreshments begin at 9:00 am. The
Gathering will begin at 9:30 am and conclude after Lunch.
The speaker, Rev. Larry Strenge, is the Director of
Evangelical Mission of SWMN Synod. There will also be
election and installation of officers for the Lakeland Conference
Board, and 2 door prizes given.
The $10 registration fee includes the Lunch. If interested in
attending the WELCA Spring Gathering, contact Marilyn
Johnson, 320-995-6574, to register. Deadline to register is
April 17th.

2017 CONGREGATIONAL SERVING SCHEDULE
We will no longer have a congregational serving committee. The 3 circles will be on a rotating schedule. We have 3 potlucks through the year:
Rally Sunday, Annual Meeting, and
Potluck after Children’s Christmas Program
Thanksgiving Eve pie and coffee will be handled by volunteers.
Midsummer Dinner will have its own committee just like the Fall Festival, Pork Chop Dinner, and Smelt Fry.
FUNERAL SERVING ROTATION:
The study circles will share this responsibility.
Chairperson of each circle will be contacted by the church secretary.

- RESPONSIBILITIES OF ALTAR GUILD -
DO NOT POLISH acolyte candle lighters and the candelabra
as these items have been plated
ALTAR
1) Check calendar for parament colors.
2) Polish collection plates only as needed (supplies in cupboard).
3) Place flowers on altar – Use white gloves while handling brass containers. Following the service put flowers in refrigerator. If no fresh flowers are available contact Flower Coordinator who will purchase bouquets for the altar with memorial funds designated for altar flowers. (If flowers are not very good, discard them. If there are baskets of flowers from a funeral, they may be rearranged and put in vases.)
4) Light the candelabras when communion is served. (Candelabras are not lit during the season of Lent.)
5) DO NOT leave empty flower vases on altar.
6) Artificial flowers are NOT to be used on Altar.
COMMUNION SERVICES
1) Communion is the 1st, 2nd, and 5th Sunday of the month. 1st Sunday of each month will be at the table, 2nd Sunday of each month will be intinction, and the 5th Sunday will be the altar guilds choice.
2) Prepare the day before. *Wine and grape juice are in the refrigerator and the wafers are in the freezer compartment. Put wine and grape juice in communion cups, wine in the silver cup, wafers on tray, and cover with linen cloths. DO NOT fill outer ring of communion tray.
3) During the communion service be ready to fill additional cups if needed. Following the service carefully clean and return communion supplies to the cupboard. Disposable plastic cups are now being used.
CLEANING
1) Assist with yearly cleaning altar area.
2) Wash acolyte robes & linens as needed.
CHECK ROBES AT THE BEGINNING OF THE MONTH.
BAPTISM
1) Place warm water in pitcher. Empty and clean after service.
2) Church secretary will supply baptism candle and gifts.
OTHER DUTIES
1) Check supplies: wafers, wine, grape juice, and oil for candles etc. Notify office secretary when supplies are low.
MINUTES from MARCH 20, 2016 MEETING AT ULC
- Again, although this meeting was advertised, only 6 women and Pastor LaDonna attended. Marilyn Johnson, Kathy Rust, and Karen Bjur represented the Rachel Circle. Betty King represented the Praise Circle, and Gladys Bjur represented the Morning Stars Circle.
- The ULCW Calendar for 2017 was completed.
- Decision was made to inform Karlene Peterson and Corinne Hable that we will pay for lights/decorations for the Christmas tree that United Lutheran received from St Thomas More. The amount of $200 was suggested. This money will be paid from the main ULCW checking account.
- The income from the Fall Festival, after expenses, was $2,054.72.

BE IT RESOLVED:
1. That we express our thanks and gratitude to Almighty God who has blessed us so abundantly.
2. That we urge our women to be steadfast in prayer and attendance.
3. That we give special thanks to our officers, past and present, and to committees for jobs well done.
4. That we give special thanks to all those who so willingly gave of time and materials and provided transportation in making our contributions to various charitable organizations.
5. That the Mission Growth Committee, when arranging a program, be responsible for determining the amount of honorarium to be presented to the guest speaker and inform the ULCW Treasurer prior to the event.
6. That in as much as God has blessed us so abundantly, both spiritually and materially, we give in addition to the offering sent to Women of the ELCA Synodical Unit:
1) $100 to the Spring Gathering of the Lakeland Conference;
2) $100 to the Fall Gathering of the Lakeland Conference.
